The
market will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday. Among the local farmers and
specialty food producers who will be participating are: Sachse Heritage Farms,
Lucky Layla, Sloan's Creek Heritage Meats, Texas Honeybee Guild, Kitchen Pride
Mushroom Farms, Stephanie's Premium Bakery, The Tamale Company, Lucido's Pasta
and Herbs, Good Spice Specialty Foods, Romance for Two, Sharla's Sweets, Susie's
Fudge, Ain't No Mo! Butter Cakes, Chapman Chili Kitchen, Brisket Heaven and
Waggin' Tail Treats. Also on hand will be local craftsmen including Anahata,
Bella Rosa Jewelry Design; Furniture by Bee Gee, and Beaded Image along with the
Green Baby Diaper Service.

Anyone turning toward Downtown from
PGBT (SH-190) recently has discovered the
ramp closed and a detour on the other side of Lavon Ave (SH-78). NTTA says: All
eastbound PGBT traffic going north or south onto State Highway SH 78 in
Garland are now using the same exit ramp. Northbound traffic will continue to
utilize the existing loop ramp. Southbound traffic now utilizes temporary
asphalt pavement, where they will be able to turn left (south) onto SH 78 at
an intersection where a temporary signal has been installed. This traffic
pattern could last through mid-March.
Joining the existing turnpike to the new Eastern Extension and constructing
the interchange at Lavon Ave will involve grade changes and several new lanes.
As depicted above,

work
is currently underway to excavate under the Lavon overpass to allow two new
connecting lanes,
-
grade
changes necessary to connect the old and new sections is forcing modifications
to the existing ramps,
-
on
the northside, two westbound entrances will be constructed, one east of Crist
Rd and another west, and
-
on
the southside, a new eastbound entrance will cross over the frontage road and
the exit ramp to Firewheel Pkwy.
It
will be nice when the work is completed (and I mean that both ways).
