ONA Recipe Box -- Apples in Maple Syrup

This is best with real maple syrup, but don't avoid this recipe if you don't have it -- go ahead and use your pancake and waffle syrup.

Ingredients

4 apples, halved and cored
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 tablespoon butter, melted
3/4 cup water

Preparation Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place the apples in a tightly-fitting baking dish, cut side up. Mix remaining ingredients and pour over the apples. Bake, covered for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the apples are soft and the syrup has reduced and is fairly thick. Baste 3 or 4 times during the baking process.
