ONA Thanksgiving -- Balance Your Calories at Thanksgiving

Worried that you'll have to starve yourself before you can enjoy your Thanksgiving meal?

Starving is never a good way to cut calories. If you're worried about the big Thanksgiving meal, you can take some steps to help balance the calories.

Start an exercise program and plan to do that exercise on Thanksgiving Day. Good options include walking, biking, running, inline skating or stair climbing. As you develop your plan, start slowly. Walk 10 minutes, then increase your time until you are participating in physical activity 30 to 40 minutes most days of the week.

This Thanksgiving, make physical activity part of the family tradition. Whatever activity you choose, you'll burn those calories instead of store them.

If you want to really have fun on Thanksgiving Day, join about 30,000 other Dallas-area residents at the Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot. If you haven't done "The Trot" before, it may be the most fun you've ever had on Thanksgiving Day! Check out www.thetrot.com for more information and to register.
